While staying in a youth hostel in Heidelberg, Germany in August of 1991, we were sitting the four us in the minigolf range which was across the street from the youth hostel. It was a warm evening and we wanted to relax after walking all day, so we sat at a table of the minigolf place and bought some beers. The beers were cold and some alcohol was needed to relax, and we sat and told stories. It so happened that a couple of Scottish girls were there also for the same purpose as we were, so they joined us at the table.
My friend Andri and I told our story of the fat drunk German guy in the night, and my sister and her friend Anna told us the story of how they woke up in the middle of the night by sound of some Asian girls cooking food on the floor in the middle of their room. The beer bottles were soon empty and we all bought more beers.
The Scottish girls told us that hey were from some town just south of Edenborough and that they were doing interrail also. Another round of beers soon came for everybody and people were getting loaded. They Scottish were at bit drunk now and spoke very freely, forgetting we were not used Scottish accent English speakers, not realizing that we were understanding them less and less. On the next round of beers we understood nothing that they were saying and thereby determined that we had drinking quite enough and we called it a night.
