My first acting performance

Back in 1982 when I was 10 years old, the school put up a play at school gymnasium. The play is called “Sálin hans Jóns míns” which in English means “The soul of my beloved John”, which is an old Icelandic play. It revolves around an old woman who is about to loose her husband from old age, and wants to make really sure that he gets into heaven. She puts his last gasp of air into a bag, and travels with the bag to heaven, and tries to negotiate with the St. Peter to let him into to heaven and when he refuses she throws the bag trough the gates of heaven, when he is not looking and thereby wins. They still show this play in Iceland, because it is a classic play from the latter part of the 19th century. Well back in 1982, we were doing a kids version of this play, and it was all clumsy and strange, like most kids plays. There were two main roles in the play, the first one being the old woman and the second one being St. Peter. My role was that of St. Peter which had many talking lines and I had to memorize them. The other role was played by my classmate Inga, which later became and actress and a international singer, starring in many movies and being on albums. She was better at acting than me.
