Are we who we think we are?
are we who we hope we are?
are we how we want to be seen?
or are we as people see us?
Can our perception be
successfully manipulated?
Is our aesthetic a banner,
like the flags of old lords?
Is it a declaration of value,
the value of worth and trust?
A marker of respect and of
success, by some cloth worn?
Sometimes it is, because often
a change in our appearance
changes our view of self worth
and our confidence outward,
whether it is washing and combing
tending to our physical shape
putting on makeup and eyeliner
or clothing ourselves in nice things.
