MISTAKEN FUTURE

When I was young I thought that all wars would end
that old wars would teach a foe to become a friend
I thought people would live on the moon by now
that world hunger had been eliminated somehow

I look around the world now, it does not look bright
I feel the disappointed boy in me, now full of fright
this is not at all the future that he believed in so much
technology did not improve all things, with its touch

now I am trying to collect and plan out my new hopes
trying to manage my family’s future with updated copes
I hope our leaders of the future, will have a will of steel
they can reach a peace in the world that we all can feel.
