Today is the day we need the most
and we are relieved in our hearts,
that it is finally here for us to feel,
hope and light returning tomorrow.
We call it “Sólstöður” which means
“where the sun stands in the sky”
if the sun is seen this time of year
she is on the horizon smiling gently.
This is the shortest day of the year
this is the darkest day of the year,
morrow holds the return of the light
of longer days, of life and of hope.
It is one of the most important days
we have waited long for it to arrive
a most pleasant feeling embraces
the wait is over, all will be all right.
