The Birth of Venus

The “Birth of Venus” is a famous painting by Sandro Botticelli, created in the 1480s.

It depicts the goddess Venus emerging from the sea on a giant scallop shell, arriving at the island of Cyprus, as described in mythology.

This iconic artwork is notable for being one of the first non-religious nudes since classical antiquity and is celebrated as a hallmark of Renaissance art.
