VACATION

VACATION

I am about to succumb to leisure. Work er being paused and stunned to silence, like Captain Kirk on 1960s television. I am gearing myself down to 2nd gear, in part for my maintenance duties of my home, which will prelude the leisure that will follow. This is the act of doing almost nothing. Travelling to a sunny place and borrowing a tan from the sun god in the sky. A vacation feels awkward somehow, where you step away from the routine and jump off the train carriage. I know I need the rest, I know it’s for the best, I feel myself being lazy, the point of doing nothing is hazy, but I will escape from Alcatraz, eject myself from the Matrix, at least for a little while and with a little style.
