My time on the school chess team

Back in 1985 I developed an interest for playing chess. My father had taught me chess many years before that, but I did have any ambition as to play seriously in any way until 1985. Our Icelandic language teacher was tasked with training the school chess team and so he did. There were two of us students that were sufficiently gifted to play chess on a competitive level so we trained every Wednesday and competed on behalf of our school for a couple of years. It was a good training in logic and planning, and patience. My fellow student and training partner is now a professor of geology at the university, and has a good mind.
