Vidoq was a man of infamy in France
the criminal became a cop by chance
such courage, wit, no one could match
in disguises he, would criminals catch.
They sought his help with many a case
from the man who put on many a face
he had a band of crooks helping him
solved the crimes on his guts and whim.
Then the French police wanted him gone
he turned detective ’til his time was done
he is remembered for what he did well
and his story we should know and tell.
