Girl before a mirror

This painting is called “Girl before a Mirror” (Fr. Jeune fille devant un miroir), and it is an oil on canvas painting by Pablo Picasso, created in 1932.

The painting is a portrait of Picasso’s mistress and muse, Marie-Thérèse Walter, who is depicted standing in front of a mirror looking at her reflection.

The composition is a complex arrangement of luminous colors and lines, compartmentalized into sections, which has resulted in the painting being likened to a stained-glass window or cloisonné enamel.

I had a print of this painting on my walls for many years, before I had money to buy real quality paintings. I painted in my youth and took many lessons thereto, so I appreciated the originality and creativity of Picasso in this piece.
