METHODS OF TRAVEL
Travelling should be an adventure. When I travel abroad, then I intend to travel, which for me means to venture to a new places that I have not been before. I stay there for a night or two and then continue on to a new place, et cetera, continuing on a road trip of sorts. This is the old fashioned way of travelling, where you maximize your experience of a new country or region. I make sure to travel distances, stay in many hotels, see many new things and meet with a lot of new people every day. The method of going to one hotel and staying there the whole trip, is not for me.
But apart from seeing the sights, the art and bucket list places, I also travel by my tastebuds. I make sure I try out all the different foods and delicacies in the places where I visit, because they matter just as much. Like Napoleon’s army, I too march on my stomach. This may give me more pleasure even, for the food with it’s texture and smell, evokes feelings. Memories with feelings drip into the subconscious. This means that later when you encounter the same smell or taste of foods, you are transported back to your memories of your travels in the past. I like that.
