I have lately been thinking about our voice
what is actually means to use your voice
to be unafraid to speak up, and be heard
but to be heard for the right reasons too
and with the word “voice” I do not speak
about the vocal cords and the vibrations
of tone and pitch, but of an inner message
originating in the soul, going through the
mind, filtered through logic and reasoning
and presented to a recipient audience, for
a particular purpose and end goal in mind,
to influence a certain important conclusion.
The importance of having something to say
outweighs the act of simply saying something
and the contemplation which goes into that
or the feelings that inspire such conviction,
has more value and means more than other
words, when the author is being authentic
and is writing his own truth, whether in fact
or in emotion, and so this truth is the message
this is the voice, and this voice can then be
presented in story or in prose, or said with a
heartfelt speech or conversation, which is the
realm of the artform which we use to express
our mind and hearts, which for me is why
I write poems and stories, to let out my voice
from it’s dwellings, to say something of merit
to ears who understand, can feel and who care.
