THE SPRING LEAVES OF MAY
The poignant proof of winters end
is the resurrection of natures show
where hibernation of all the trees
has worn off and the trees wake up
their leaves open up to the skies
as if the trees are stretching out
like a bear emerging from his cave
reaching out to the sun and rain
getting ready for summer’s life
to repeat their cycle of cycles
growing in strength and in size
carving and casting their seeds
to nature’s grounds all around
so that they may then be proud
of their creative duties fulfilled
they are then free to change color
and shed their clothing for winter.
