WRITING AS THERAPY
I am convinced that a lot of the stress and anxiety that we are burdened with, comes from the endless input of visual information, that we subject ourselves to on a daily basis.
I am guilty of this masochism as well, although I try my best to lessen to input. None the less, this stupid urge to “not miss out” on what’s going on in the world, fills our heads with endless data and visual stimulus, that we have no actual use for, at all.
Social media, news media and other media, fills our poor brain so much, that we drown out our true self. Being present and conscious becomes a true struggle, when competing against the heroin of compulsive media consumption.
Writing or other creative expression is the output from the brain, releasing the tension of the overflow of the useless input, and thereby bringing some semblance of balance and restoring us to a calmer self.
